Shaped in darkness, 2012
That feeling, when throwing off your winter coat and exposing your protected body after a long dark winter. The series reflects on how darkness influences character, how root fruits take shape underground. The lack of light makes us all blind. Like strangely shaped animals at the bottom of the ocean, the roots seek their form through the soil. The studio is built from rusty metal plates, creating a ceremonial stage, with associations to both faberge eggs and self made toys from spruce cones. The piece is a photograph mounted on thin aluminium, on top of a black wooden frame. The photograph is pigment print on Fine Art Baryta paper. The piece is light and can be hung from the framing, the back is signed. The photograph is part of a series of 9 pieces. Edition 5.
